Hold the water in 2008.

Fred Siems, chief administrative officer for Jackson County, asked department heads in a recent memo to stop buying commercial bottled water for employees. He said it has cost more than $30,000 a year. Water from fountains and sinks will have to do starting Jan. 1, he said.

But the county, in a budget-cutting mode, will still spend $25,250 on office coffee services in 2008, the budget shows. That, however, is down about $10,000 from this year.
