Belmont University has discontinued selling bottled water on campus as part of its “Belmont Goes Green” campaign.
The school’s food service outlets will no longer carry plain bottled water, although they will still sell juices, soda and vitamin water. Instead, the school is making sure all water fountains have purifiers and encouraging students to fill up reusable containers. School officials say the measure will save students money, reduce the amount of waste in landfills and help the campus set an example during its Earth Week celebration, which runs through April 27.
